Parisian Robber by Andrea Rosado Pos and Ángel Cívico González (In2, 2008-2009)
The police arrested one of the most searched pickpockets in the centre of Paris. The events took place late last night, when the pickpocket, Peter Sanders, was witnessed walking around a couple of tourists.
Mary Walker, a neighbour who recognized the criminal while she was walking her dog, because she had been stolen once by this man, immediately called the police informing of the events she saw. "I recognized him from the very first moment I saw him, those eyes, I will never forget them in my whole life, oh, thank God I had my new mobile phone, which my son bought me last Christmas, because you see, I am very lonely, my husband just died a couple of years ago, and my little puppy, who is my dog, is my only company, and we both lover waling around the park, because there puppy meets her sweet girlfriend (…) and I finally called the police" declared Mary Walker.
A couple of minutes later the police arrived at the Paris Metro, and easily found Sanders just before he assaulted the tourists. Although he tried to ignore the authorities' accusations, he was arrested due to the fact that he had been taped in other times by the TV security cameras. He was taken to jail and now he is waiting to be sent to court, under the charge of pick-pocketing, assault, and avoiding the police.
Because of these events, authorities are going to launch a new campaign warning people of the danger of pickpockets.
