A Black President For The United States by Cris (In2, 2008-2009)
It's a miracle! The first African American taking the oath as President of the United States, while millions of people over the world attend the inauguration celebration.
A historic day, the 20th of January 2009 in Washington DC, the forty-fourth President of the United States, Barack Obama became the first African American to hold the office under the theme "a new birth of freedom," commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.
The ceremony commenced on the 17th of January with a train ride in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A lot of official events were held in Washington D.C. from 18th to 21st of January: Concert at the U.S. Capitol, a luncheon at National Statuary Hall, a parade along Pennsylvania Avenue and an inaugural prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral.
There was a surprise indeed. The chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Roberts, made several mistakes during the administration of the oath, so President Barack Obama took the second oath ceremony on the evening of the 21st of January.
There is a new hope for American citizens to make the American dream real. This is a new era and we hope the new President Obama will be able to respond to the expectations that have been placed in him.
