Minisagas
By Miguel Ángel Rodríguez
We were sitting comfortably in our seats. We led ordinary lives. We didn't care about outside problems. An unexpected smoke signal approached, floating on the horizon. We woke up. It shook our consciousnesses. It made us fight for important things which were so close we hadn't even realized. |

To Dad
You've been so far for too long! I missed you and needed you a lot. I've been wondering why… why... Now, you are free at Spokane. I can see you shining… swimming in its waters. You are home again and I know, never again... will I be alone. |

Smoke Signals
A sudden misfortune
An unexpected turn in life
Starting to take refuge from memories
Walking aimlessly
My legs feel heavy
… Getting confused
The burden is so hard to bear
There is no choice
Always hiding the truth
Drinking is the way
It takes a weight off my mind
There is no return
… Running away
Time to think
Time to remember
Time to feel homesick
Happiness is possible
Next life, with ancestors
Freedom, our eternal dream

From fire, many feelings have come. Doubts, fear, nostalgia... forgiveness, why not. Time does not return. Facts do not happen twice. A good choice is to live each moment like the last one in our life. Never leave behind things to say, nor leave feelings lost behind.
Just live life. |

Smoke Signals
I'm lost in a non-return thought.
Something unavoidable.
Nights with no sleeping time,
nights full of feelings.
I know I'm starting to change.
I don't want to admit it.
Moments of insecurity
… Uncertainty…
That scent around every corner —
something unattainable but also desirable.
You're so close to it,
when you love.
A strange sensation not experimented before,
sometimes impossible to control.
It's unthinkable to stand alone —
I'm scared this feeling may end up hurting me,
With the passing of time,
I feel deep inside I'm right in what I do.
I won't let anything stand in my way —
I succumb to love.
That's life —
I feel I belong.
