Our Town: Getafe.
Getafe is a city in the Southern part of Madrid.
Getafe isn't a tourist city. It has some important monuments and it also has numerous hotels (ten or eleven, more or less). It makes Getafe an attractive city, because it is near the capital and it is very well communicated (by road and by train and metro)
There are three important tourist areas in Getafe:
The Cerro de los Ángeles, considered as the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula.
The famous street is famous for its shops. You can see a lot of shops, all kind of shops, on the right and the left.
The Spain square has beautiful gardens. Sometimes, in summer, there are concerts here.
In Getafe there are many bridges: to go through Getafe center to El Bercial and El Sector III, because Getafe is divided in two by a National road.
The most important church in Getafe is The Cathedral of St María Magdalena.
Getafe has four big Department Stores: Hipercor, Carrefour, Nassica and Centro Comercial Sector 3.
On Saturdays, in the "Margaritas train station you can find clothes, fruit, vegetables, shoes, music CDs, and DVD…
The top three tourist attractions in Getafe are:
- The Cerro de los Ángeles,
- The Hospitalillo de San José,
- The Cathedral of "Santa María Magdalena",
