Before using terms which have been used traditionally to hurt or belittle women and homosexual people, make sure you are with friends. This applies to: baby, hot, for instance.

Half-breed = mestizo/a – but be careful: it's pejorative (and old-fashioned), if you are not a half-breed! It's better to say, mixed race/descent, and this is also applicable to any mix!
mestizo = usually, Spanish and Native American – in North America
mulatto/a = Black and white.

The previous note applies to all those kinds of words whose uses are changing. It's not the same to say "I'm a half-breed" or "He is a half-breed". The same goes for "gay", etc. It counts who is saying it! If the person is not a friend, these can be insulting.
