Big Bang Theory: Pilot episode, an Oral Presentation by Irene, Pedro, Angel I, Angel II and Ana Belén (Av2 Tues, 2010-11)

Notice from spelling too that they are using US American English: favor (UK favour), neighbor (UK neighbour). Vocabulary: "grab" is widely used in the USA for all kinds of verbs involving getting things, not only physically grabbing. "Guys" is also typical, to call a group of people.

Listen and Repeat! Listen external link to all of these sentences (a warm thanks to the Talking People podcast!)

doc Leonard's lines

  • Agreed, what's your point?
  • Well, what do you want to do?
  • We don't mean to interrupt. We live across the hall.
  • I think we should be good neighbors. Invite her over, make her feel welcome.
  • Okay, well, make yourself at home.
  • Do you have some sort of a job?
  • Should I say something? I feel like I should say something.
  • Well, I'm not trying to have sex with her.
  • What makes you think she wouldn't have sex with me? I'm a male and she's a female.
  • This is not a good time.
  • It's just not a good time.
  • That's great. Guys, [I] have to go.
  • Come on. I'll show you the trick of the shower.
  • She asked me to do her a favor.
  • You know how it is with break up / how you feel with break up.
  • To mend her broken heart.
  • I'll do the talking.
  • Just grab the door.
  • We're / You're not going to give up just like that.
  • I'm so sorry I drove / dragged you through this.

doc Rajesh's lines

  • Smooth !!!!

doc Sheldom's lines

  • That's the beauty of this.
  • I think I made my point.
  • This is an interesting development.
  • What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
  • He (Leonard) has a lady over.
  • My apologies, what's your plan?
  • Don't think quite far.
  • What is happening to you?!

doc Penny's lines

  • I guess I'm your new neighbor. Penny.
  • I'd love to.
  • What are you guys used to do for fun around here?
  • This seems so serious stuff. You did it? [Did you do it?]
  • So... you are one of those beautiful Mind Genius guys!
  • Do you want me a-move*?
  • Do you know what the most pathetic part is?
  • Top [On top of it all], I am dirty because of the moving and my shower doesn't work.
  • Can I ask you a favor? It's OK if you say no.
  • It's not the kind of thing you ask a guy you have just met.
  • That sounds fun.

doc Howard's lines

  • Wait till you see this.
  • Hang on there.
  • Is she available for coitus?
  • He's kind of a nerd.
  • I've had him since Level Ten.
  • Anyway, if you had your own game character, we could hang out.
  • So you'll think about it…? [Will you think about it, please?]
