Proposal to improve the walkway connecting Las Margaritas Suburban Train Station to El Bercial , by Delia Martín (Av2 Tues, 2010-11) - 265 words

I have been living in El Bercial for two years now. In recent years El Bercial has grown considerably and more people are living and using its different services, such as public transport. Many of us work in Madrid, so we need to use public transport to get to work. Madrid-El Bercial is well connected by bus, by underground and by suburban train. Nevertheless, the walkway from Margaritas Suburban Train Station to El Bercial is insecure, unpaved and neglected. This proposal intends to address this problem.

Lights
Most users have to use this path very early in the morning and also once the sun has set. The lack of streetlights in that area means it is always dark. Furthermore, due to the lack of light, the path is very unsafe and dangerous.

In order to solve this problem, the Council should install streetlights along the path urgently.

Pavement
The walkway to the train consists of two parts. The first one is a bridge over the highway, well paved and safe, and the second is an unpaved path across a field. During rainy days, this second part of the path is impassable — you have to walk on mud and be careful not to slip. As a result of this, you get to your destination with your shoes and clothes totally dirty.

My proposal is for the Council to pave the second part of the walkway as soon as possible.

I strongly believe that if the Council takes into account these proposals the day-to-day users will feel safe and more comfortable.
