Booking an Appointment to see the Doctor

Assistant: Good morning, GC Medical Center.
Patient: Good morning. I'd like to make an appointment with Dr. Brown, please.
Assistant: Your name please.
Patient: Santamaria. S-A-N-T-A-M-A-R-I-A.
Assistant: You haven't registered with us yet, have you?
Patient: No, I haven't. Actually, I'm new in the neighbourhood
Assistant: OK. So when you come I'll give you our registration form, the one for new patients, so you can fill it in. And now let's see... Monday at 4:30PM. Would that be OK?
Patient: Sorry… Would it be possible to book earlier? Tomorrow, any time?
Assistant: Let's see. How about today?  I've got a gap in at 3 PM.
Patient: Better than today, I'd rather be there tomorrow any time.
Assistant: Ms. Santamaria, I might be able to solve it! Allow me to ask the doctor. Hold on a minute.

Assistant:  Hello again. Doctor Brown has agreed to see you at 1PM tomorrow.
Patient: Good. Thank you so much.

Assistant: Excuse me, just in case. I'd need your phone number. Is it the one appearing on the telephone panel? Oh, sorry! Hold on, please! I'm getting a new call.

Assistant: So, then your mobile number is the one appearing in the glass visor, is that right?
Patient:  That's it. Write it down, if you like. It is XXXXXXXXXXXX.

Assistant: Thanks, Ms. Santamaria, See you tomorrow. Have a good day!
Patient:  Thanks.  Good bye.

Health (Unit 3)
A patient goes to the doctor, after having made an appointment.

Points to mention:

  • Symptoms
  • Diagnosis and prescription
  • Doctor's advice

At the doctor's

Doctor: Ms. Castaño. Come in. How can I help you?
Patient: I've got a splitting headache and high temperature, I also have a sore throat.
Doctor: Open your mouth and say Aaaah. Now I'm going to check you lungs.
Now, please cough! Right! Do you usually smoke?
Patient: No, I don't. I don't smoke at all.
Doctor: OK. There is nothing wrong with your lungs. I think I'm going to ask for a blood test. Take this paper to the registration desk to book for the blood test. The results will be here in ten days.  Meanwhile, take a couple of these tablets every two hours and this stomach protector.
Patient: Thanks, doctor.
Doctor: It is important you do not forget the prescription, to take the tablets at due time, and to drink a lot of water and hot beverages.
Patient: Ok. Thanks.
Doctor:  I'll see you again in ten days. Take care.
Patient: Thanks, good bye.
