At a Birthday Party
The cake is being cut and served.
Paloma: Just a little, I don't like chocolate very much.
María: Neither do I, but it is a birhtday cake and we have to in his honor!
(Maria to the one living out the cake): A small bit, please.
Paloma: What a coincidence — everybody likes chocolate!
Maria: Quite uncommon!
Paloma: By the way, what is your name? Mine is Paloma.
Maria: Maria. Nice to meet you!
Paloma: Are you a friend of Carlos's?
Maria: Well, actually, I'm his elder sister, but we're so different! He loves chocolate, whatever kind.
Paloma: I see.
Maria: How come you know Carlos?
Paloma: He's my classmate at college. He needs to change his mind regarding languages: he hast to go abroad to finish his project and he doesn't want to, you see.
Maria: Just the opposite of me. Being abroad is always a challenge to me.
Paloma: Definitely! I have also been abroad, in England, and I love travelling.
María: That's funny! Me too! So you speak English, don't you?
Paloma: Well, I'm still learning. On Mondays and Wednesdays I attend my English classes at EOI Getafe, my language school.
Maria: Which level are you in? I'm also there!
Paloma: I'm the last year.
Maria: Really?! We're classmates, and we didn't know each other!
Paloma: Awesome. About your brother…
Maria: Don't tell me you're going out with him! |
