On the Atomic Crisis after the Tsunami in Japan

Dear Editor,

The Tsunami in Japan has been tragic not only because of the large number of dead people and damaged material but also because of the triggering off an atomic crisis.

While at the first time the main concerns were to find the missing people and to put the country in order again (e.g. rebuilding the devastated infrastructures), a severe problem was been brewing in Fukushima. Although news programs, newspapers and the radio have been reporting about the plutonium  leaks, the evacuation of the people from the nearest village to other farther than 40 kilometres away from Fukushima and some of the problems that Japanese are suffering, they do not tell the absolute truth.

Plutonium leaks to the atmosphere and to the sea have a great deal of health effects that have not been reported to the population. The media must communicate what is happening and which the consequences are so that people can make decisions after knowing all the information. This is the only way people can make the right decisions.
